TARGUM SHLISHI GRANT FUNDING OPPORTUNITY FOR DISSERTATION RESEARCH ON JEWISH STUDIES TOPICS
AVIVA-Redaktion

The foundation Targum Shlishi is awarding four grants of $2,500 each during 2012 for students in the U.S. or Israel. The deadline to receive applications for the award is February 16, 2012.

This is the sixth year that Targum Shlishi has awarded grants for dissertation research. The research subjects of past grantees have included explorations into such diverse areas as student satisfaction with day school education, feminist reading in post-biblical literature, archeological studies relating to ritual purity, and Jewish theology in the Holocaust.

"Our commitment to supporting dissertation research in Jewish Studies fits well with our overall commitment to Jewish education and other areas of Jewish scholarship, and our conviction that quality research in these fields is critical to our future. It has been extremely heartening to become acquainted with the depth and breadth of the research being conducted in Jewish Studies during the past five years that we have been awarding this grant," says Judith Dach, Ph.D., education consultant for Targum Shlishi. "One of our greatest hopes is that our actions galvanize others to support higher education in Jewish Studies and encourage young scholars, as it is their research and teaching that will help us gain a greater understanding of our history and culture."
